What is Noun?

 A Noun is the name of persons, places, animals, things or ideas .

Example:- 

Bhagat Singh, Rohan, Kabita

Mumbai, Japan, schoo

 dog, tiger, giraffe

book, table, shoes

kindness, honesty, oldness


 How many types of noun? Name them.

There are five types of noun

1- Common Noun

2- Proper Noun

3- Collective Noun

4- Material Noun

5- Abstract Noun

What is common Noun? give some examples.

Common noun is the general name given to a group of persons, places, animals or things.

Ex- city, mountain, building, newspaper, etc.

What is Proper Noun? give some example

 Proper noun is the name of particular persons, places, animals or things.

Ex:- Bhagat Singh, Somnath Temple, Himalaya etc.


What is Collective Noun? Give some example.

 A collective noun is a word used to name a group of people, animals or things.

Example -

 A bunch of grapes

A bundle of sticks

A herd of cows

A flock of birds

A swarm of bees


What is Material Noun? give some example

 Material nouns are the names of materials or substances out of which things are made.

Ex- gold, iron, silver, milk, wood, soil etc.

What is Abstract Noun? Write some examples.

 Abstract noun is the name of qualities, ideas, emotions and such things which which we can not see or touch.

Ex- beauty, compassion, courage, honesty, wisdom, talent, childhood, sorrow etc.

How many types of noun on the basis of whether it is countable or uncountable?

Ans:- There are two types of noun on the basis of whether it is countable or uncountable.

1- countable noun

2- Uncountable noun

Ans:- A countable noun is the name given to the people, objects etc. that can be counted.

Ex:- boys, Bhagat singh, A bunch of grapes

Ans:- There are six types of countable noun.

1- Common noun

2- Proper noun

3- Collective noun

4- objects that have fixed shape

Ex:- a bungalow, a house etc.

5- All units of measurement are countable noun

Ex:- liter, merer, gram etc.

6- When abstract noun comes with article 'a, an' than it will become countable noun

Ex:- a plan, an idea etc

What is uncountable noun?

Ans:- An uncountable noun is the name given to the things that cannot be the counted.

Ex:- courage, gold, wheat, sugar etc.

How many types of uncountable noun?

Ans:- There are two types of uncountable noun

1- material noun

2- abstract noun

3- Those things that are considered in quantities or in mass

Ex:- wheat, sugar etc.

All liquids are uncountable noun.

Ex:- milk, water oil etc.

All gases are uncountable noun.

Ex:- oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen etc.

All natural phenomena are uncountable noun

Ex:- heat, cold, sunlight etc.

Branches of learning are uncountable noun.

Ex:- economics, mathematics, politics etc.

Name of languages are uncountable noun

Ex:- Hindi, English, sanskrit, french etc.

All gerunds are uncountable noun.

Ex:- running, jumping etc.
