1:- What is clause?
Ans:- A group of words which have their own subject and verb is called clause.
Note:- Subject in a clause can be hidden or visible but the verb should be visible.
A clause can be a part of a compound or complex sentence.
A clause can act as a sentence or a part of sentence.
Ex:- He is a nice person.
I eat chocolates.
Charu runs in a race.

Will be dancing – verb phrase He has interesting ideas. Interesting ideas- adjective phrase They spoke as fast as possible. As fast as possible- adverb phrase They discussed after the dinner. After the dinner – prepositional phrase

2:- How many types of clause?
Ans:- There are two types of clause
1- Principal clause (It is also called main clause or independent clause)
2- subordinate clause ( It is also called dependent clause )
3:- What is principal clause?
Ans:- A clause that makes complete sense and is not dependent on other clause is called principal clause.
Note:- Principal clause is also known as independent clause.
Principal clause is a group of words that consists of subject and verb.
Principal clause make complete sense by itself
Principal clause can not be used as nouns, adverbs or adjectives because they are complete sentences by itself.
Ex:- He is playing cricket.
Manish is my best friend.
4:- What is subordinate clause?
Ans:- A clause that does not make complete sense and is dependent on another clause for its complete meaning is called subordinate clause.
Note:- subordinate clause is also known as dependent clause.
subordinate clause need an independent clause to complete its meaning.
A subordinate clause also consists of a subject and a verb but it is not meaningful by itself.
subordinate clause can be used as nouns, adverbs or adjectives.
Ex:- If you are free.
Because they are free.
Although i was scared. (Although - भले हीं )
After they eat dinner.
whether she thinks about it. ( Whether - भले हीं )
wherever they go. (Wherever - जहाँ भी )
who are the tree.
unless she graduates. ( unless - जब तक )
Note:- ( if, because, although, after, whether, wherever, who, unless ) all these are subordinating words.
